Join us on campus - parents & future Pre-K & Kinder wildcats will take a guided tour of the campus, kinder students will complete a short assessment, and the Registrar & school nurse  will ensure all required documents have been submitted.  Don’t miss out on the fun! sign up for a tour


Step 3 - PRE-K and KINDER KAMP! August 13th, 2026
9am-11am Pre-K, student and parent
1pm-3pm Kindergarten,  student and parent

On this day our incoming Pre-K & Kinder students will have an opportunity to meet their teacher and classmates. In addition, the parents will attend an orientation meeting while the kids have a “mock day” so they know what to expect on the first day of school! *Bring your school supplies! Sign up here

Here are the highlights from this week's newsletter:

- The BPE Spring Carnival is Friday, March 27, from 4:30 to 7:30 PM. Purchase your wristbands and bid on silent auction items online now.

- Kinder and Pre-K Wildcat Dad Day is March 27. Please ensure you have an approved volunteer application on file to participate.

- PTA is seeking volunteers for the Kindergarten and 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony Committee to help make these milestones special.

- STAAR testing for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade begins April 7. Please review the schedule.

- Save the date for Leadership Day on May 8, where students will showcase their leadership skills and personal goal progress.

We are excited to announce our Staff of the Week, Ms. Su Thi Ariola. As a dedicated second grade teacher and a member of our Academic Action Team, Ms. Ariola played a vital role in making our recent STEAM Night a huge success.

Her leadership and creativity helped provide our students and families with an evening of hands-on learning and exploration. We are grateful for her commitment to the Prairie community and for creating such meaningful learning opportunities for our Wildcats. Please join us in congratulating Ms. Ariola.

Congratulations to Ms. Kittrell, as she is one of our Staff of The Week! She is truly a shining part of our campus community! Hello Blackland Prairie families. Please take a moment to review the latest updates and upcoming events for our school community in this week's newsletter.

- The annual BPE Carnival is Friday, March 27th, from 4:30 to 7:30 PM, and the silent auction is now live with many exciting items.
- Our Wildcat Kinder Dads Day is scheduled for March 27th, and interested fathers can sign up online to teach a lesson to their child's class.
- PTA is looking for volunteers for the Kindergarten and 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony Committee to help make these milestones special.
- As the weather warms up, please remember to notify the front office before taking your student to the outdoor picnic tables for lunch.
- Spring Break is March 16th through March 20th, and there will be no school for students or staff.

We are incredibly grateful to our Blackland Prairie families for providing a delicious Ramadan lunch for our staff today. It was a beautiful opportunity for our team to enjoy a variety of traditional dishes and learn more about the traditions celebrated by many in our community.

Thank you to the parents who coordinated and prepared this wonderful meal. Your involvement and generosity make our school a special place for everyone. Go Wildcats!

- Join us for a special visit from Bluebonnet nominee author Alyson Gerber on Tuesday, February 24, as she speaks with our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Wildcats.
- Order your signed copies of Alyson Gerber's books by Monday, February 23, to have them delivered to the library for the event.
- Get ready for the Whiskers Fun Run happening during school hours this Friday, February 27.
- Save the date for the HBCU College Fair at Cedar Ridge High School this Saturday, February 28, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Today we are celebrating Crossing Guard Appreciation Day at Blackland Prairie Elementary. Our crossing guards are the first friendly faces many of our students see each morning and the last ones they see as they head home. They work in all types of weather to ensure our Wildcats can navigate the streets safely.

Please join us in thanking these dedicated individuals for their commitment to our school community. We appreciate everything you do to keep the Prairie safe.

Calling all Blackland Prairie artists and scientists! We are looking for a creative student design to serve as the official backdrop for this year's Science Fair participation certificates.

- Who can enter: Any student interested in showcasing their art.
- Submission format: Use 8.5 by 11 inch white paper. (Preferably landscape orientation)
- Requirements: Include your full name, grade, and teacher's name on the back of your entry.
- Deadline: Please turn in your design to the front office by February 16.
-Winner Announcement: The winner will be shared during morning announcements on February 18.
