Hello Blackland Prairie families. We have several exciting events and important updates to share with our community as we head into April.

- Volunteers are needed for the Kindergarten and 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony Committee to help make these milestones special.
- STAAR testing begins in April for 3rd through 5th grade students, so please review the schedule to ensure your child arrives by 7:35 AM on testing days.
- We are focusing on math as our Wildly Important Goal this year and encourage you to ask your students about their specific math goals.
- Please remember our snack guidelines of one snack per designated time and water only in water bottles to support a healthy environment.

Thank you to our amazing Pre-K and Kindergarten Wildcat Dads who came in to teach lessons. As a bonus, they were able to be introduced to the entire school during out 1st grade Habit Rally this morning.

We are excited to announce our Staff of the Week, Ms. Su Thi Ariola. As a dedicated second grade teacher and a member of our Academic Action Team, Ms. Ariola played a vital role in making our recent STEAM Night a huge success.

Her leadership and creativity helped provide our students and families with an evening of hands-on learning and exploration. We are grateful for her commitment to the Prairie community and for creating such meaningful learning opportunities for our Wildcats. Please join us in congratulating Ms. Ariola.

Congratulations to Ms. Kittrell, as she is one of our Staff of The Week! She is truly a shining part of our campus community! As our school registrar, she greets everyone who walks through our doors with warmth and kindness, creating an environment where students, families, and staff immediately feel welcomed. She is always willing to lend a helping hand and consistently jumps in wherever support is needed, no matter the task. Her positive attitude, dedication, and spirit of service make a meaningful difference each day. We are incredibly lucky to have her as part of our team, and we are grateful for the care and commitment she brings to our campus!

Congratulations to our latest Staff of the Week, Ms. Williamson. As a valued member of our 2nd Grade team, Ms. Williamson consistently looks for ways to help her students reach their full potential. She is known for lifting others up and ensuring that both students and staff grow together. We are incredibly grateful for the passion, dedication, and leadership she brings to the Prairie every day. We are proud to announce that Ms. Nikki, our Cafeteria Manager, is our Staff of the Week. Ms. Nikki works tirelessly to ensure our Wildcats are served well-rounded, nutritious meals every day. She consistently goes above and beyond to make lunchtime a highlight for our students, even personally driving to pick up specific items to ensure our students have what they enjoy. Please join us in thanking Ms. Nikki for her incredible dedication to our school.

Congratulations to Ms Kanaga, our Staff of the Month for February!

She is always looking for ways to help her students grow and reach their full potential. She lifts others up so that students and staff alike can grow together. We are so grateful for the passion, dedication, and leadership she brings to our campus each day.

Third, fourth, and fifth grade students loved hearing from New York Times bestselling author Alyson Gerber yesterday. Her message of trusting and being kind to yourself resonated with our Wildcats.

We are incredibly grateful to our Blackland Prairie families for providing a delicious Ramadan lunch for our staff today. It was a beautiful opportunity for our team to enjoy a variety of traditional dishes and learn more about the traditions celebrated by many in our community.

Thank you to the parents who coordinated and prepared this wonderful meal. Your involvement and generosity make our school a special place for everyone. Go Wildcats!

- Get ready for the Whiskers Fun Run happening during school hours this Friday, February 27.
- Save the date for the HBCU College Fair at Cedar Ridge High School this Saturday, February 28, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Our second staff of the week is Ms. Wilhelmi. She is always supporting us and answering all the questions that come her way. You are always positive, and we are so lucky to have you at BPE!

Our first staff of the week for this week is Ms. Gilbertson in Kindergarten. Mrs. Gilbertson is an exceptional teacher and colleague! She has been incredibly welcoming throughout the year and consistently supportive of all her students!

We want you at the Prairie! Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Blackland Prairie Leadership Day on May 8, 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity to see our Wildcats in action as they showcase their leadership skills.

Today we are celebrating Crossing Guard Appreciation Day at Blackland Prairie Elementary. Our crossing guards are the first friendly faces many of our students see each morning and the last ones they see as they head home. They work in all types of weather to ensure our Wildcats can navigate the streets safely.

A huge shout-out to Ms. Henson for her incredible energy this month! From spearheading our January Habit Rally to keeping students on their toes with engaging academic games, her dedication to student growth is inspiring. Let’s give a big cheer for Karen Paratore, an amazing teacher who always helps her students shine! She works closely with everyone in her class and with learning partners to make sure all students feel supported and successful. Ms. Paratore is great at noticing what each student needs and uses fun, quick check-ins to help everyone grow.
