Fifth-Grade Teaches Kindergarteners To Code!

During our second week of Hour of Code, we worked on “plugged” activities, or activities that involved using technology. Each grade level experienced a different activity, ranging from using the code.org website to Ipad apps. The most impressive was how some of our fifth-grade students taught our kindergarten students how to code using mice. The students ran the sessions completely, helping the younger students understand the basic commands the robot mice followed. They taught their groups how to lay out a path for the mouse to follow to find it’s way “home.” The older students helped make sure each child was frustrated just enough to experience the challange while not becoming overwhelmed. They did a fantastic job, and we are so proud of our fifth-grade leaders. Mrs. Inzana and Mrs. Rollans could not have done all of the fabulous Hour of Code activities without our student leaders.
