Mrs. Neal’s Second Graders Use Google Sheets To Track Reading Progress

Mrs. Rollans and Mrs. Neal taught her second graders how to use Google Sheets in order to track how long they read every week. The students learned that spreadsheets can be used to collect data, such as the number of minutes read every week and then do things such as add the weekly minutes together to find out how long they read each month. The students had fun creating a graph to show how much they have already read this year and were surprised with the graph changed as they continued to add information in. Mrs. Neal and the class discussed how much time this spreadsheet will save them since they only have to enter the data every week and not do the calculations each time. It was great to see the students be solve a real problem they were having and use technology to solve it.
