Ms. Eskridge’s Students Create New Video Games

Ms. Eskridge’s student at Blackland Prairie Elementary are learning about game design during their “Genius Hour” using Bloxels. Students can create digital characters and game worlds using simple colored blocks and an Ipad app. When they are creating their worlds, each colored block represents a different thing, from landscapes including ground, water, and lava to power ups, coins, and enemies. Students worked in partners to plan each level of their world and how they flowed together. The students could also create new characters and animate them. Students naturally started using the engineering design method of creating something, then testing it, and going back to fix problems before testing it again. It was great to watch the worlds come alive and we can’t wait to play these great student created games!
